First win for Brockport gymnasts
The Golden Eagles, the SUNY Brockport gymnastic team, defeated Ithaca College, Saturday, January 25. Sophomore Jordan Christiano (Hilton/Hilton) won the all-around and the floor to lead Brockport to a 178.125 to 175.275 victory.
Competing in their home opener, the Golden Eagles won for the first time after facing four Division I schools in two previous meets prior to this event.
Christiano scored a 35.825 to win the all-around and won first with a score of 9.575 on the floor. Junior Jessica Bowman (Oswego/Oswego) won the vault with a total of 9.050, while Brockport sophomore Tara Lynch (Milton, VT/Milton) tied for first in the team at 9.250. Junior Lisa Cole (Fairport/Fairport) won the bars with a score of 8.800.
Ithaca was led by Nancy Patterson (Yorktown/Lakeland), who scored 9.250 to tie Lynch for first in the beam.
Patterson led the Bombers with a team-high score of 9.025 in the vault, and was joined by Heidi Sanderson (Pembroke, MA/Silver Lake) to lead Ithaca with a score of 8.70 in the bars. Heather Block (Merrimack, NH/Merrimack) had a team high of 9.125 to lead the floor for the Bombers.
SUNY Brockport competed without All-American junior Carrie Santore (Webster/Webster), who was injured in practice earlier in the week.
