Shaffer, Melvin W., Monday, February 3, 2003 at age 70. He was predeceased by his parents, George and Melissa Shaffer; his sister, Norma Jean Shaffer and his great-grandson, Jacob. He is survived by his wife, Susan (Thomas) Shaffer; his children, Randy (Karen) Shaffer of Churchville, Sheryl (Glenn) Goodlein of Churchville and Robert (Elana) Shaffer of Caledonia; his five grandchildren, Richard (Jeanine) Shaffer of Toledo, Ohio, Evan, Brett and Christine Shaffer, and Alison Goodlein; two great-grandchildren, Richard and Lindsey Shaffer; his brother, Donald (Jackie) Shaffer of Reedsburg, Wisconsin; sisters, Marie (Gordon) Nygren of Tionesta, Pennsylvania and Nancy (Wesley) Vanderhoof of North Chili; an uncle; two aunts; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company.

Axford, Julia D., On February 1, 2003 at the age of 10. She is survived by her beloved parents, Jane and Paul Axford; her brothers, Craig and Brian; sister, Shannon; grandparents, Gail and Duncan Kerr of Nobel, Canada, Ron and Louise Axford of Kingston, Canada; great-grandmother, Dorothy Wagg of Orillia, Canada; uncle, Rich (Louise) Kerr of Canada; aunt, Valerie (Michael) Leonard of Canada; cousins, Christine and Kayla Kerr; several great-aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dedman, Kathryn S., January 28, 2003 age 88. Predeceased by husband, Dr. W. Wayne Dedman; daughter, Alice Gene Kassmann. Survived by grand-daughter, Kathleen Kassmann; friends, Martha (Ken-neth) Breiner, John (LuEva) Kohena, Lucinda (Andrew) Smith; nieces and nephews.

Hale, Milton H., Died suddenly January 31. 2003, age 61. Husband of Lynda W. Wylam Hale; son of Harold N. Hale of East Bethany; father of Michael R. Hall of Brockport and Melissa L. (Dennis) Lund of California; stepfather of Daun R. Partridge of Naples, and Michael David Yeaw of Tennessee; brother of James N. Hale of East Bethany, David R. Hale of Flordia and Ann (Loren) Osgood of Churchville; grandfather of 9 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Hube, Sadie M., Age 81, of Shakopee, Minnesota, formerly of Brockport. Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Sebald and husband Dave of Shakopee; four grandchildren; two brothers, Dan Chest of Brockport and Jim Chest of Avon. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Hube; parents, James and Anna (Felice) Chest; and three sisters.
Funeral Services were held February 5 at the Normandale Baptist Church. Burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Fort Snelling, Minnesota. Contributions can be made to Normandale Baptist Church, 4701 West 84th Street, Bloomington, Minnesota in her memory.
Lampen, Alyce, February 1, 2003 at age 89. Predeceased by her husband, Lathan H. Lampen (Bud). Survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy (Roy Pierce) Lampen and Sylvia (David Gulisano) Lampen; sister-in-law, Thelma Lampen.
Private funeral services were held. Donations can be made to O.E.S. Mary Jane Holmes Chapter, Brockport United Methodist Church or The Rochester Friendly Home in her memory.
Lazor, George Michael Sr., On February 4 at the age of 75. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alice E. (Smith) Lazor; daughters, Deborah Ann Lazor of Hawaii, Donna Marie (Robert) Williams; grandchildren, Aaron Edward and Alicia Ann Hinkley, Aziza Marie Williams of Las Vegas, Nevada; son, George Michael (Christine) Lazor Jr.,; grandchildren, Nicholas Michael, Noelle Catherine of Brockport; brother and sister-in-law, Donald E. (Dorothy) Hutchinson; great-grandchild, Kalin John Gordon Hinkley; niece, nephew, great nieces and great nephews. A veteran of WWII, U.S. Army Air Force. Retired after 48 years as manufacturing engineer for General Electric and Black & Decker. He was a member of the Brockport Fire Department, Silsby Hose Co.
A Funeral Service was held February 7 at Fowler Funeral Home Inc., Brockport. Interment at the convenience of the family. Donations can be made to Hospice of Rochester or Lakeside Memorial Hospital in his memory.
Putney, Thomas W., Suddenly, January 28, 2003 at the age 52. Predeceased by his parents, Dr. and Mrs. William Putney of Ogdensburg. He is survived by his beloved wife, Katherine of 13 years; daughter, Annette (Thomas) Gentilesco; grandchildren, Dario and Ariana Gentilesco of Largo, Florida; sisters, Juanita (Larry) Nuhn of Texas, Barbara Putney of Ogdensburg, Grace (Robert) Horsman of North Carolina, Mary Putney and Marjorie Putney of Virginia; nieces and nephews. He was a longtime employee of the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Survived by children, George Hollenbeck, William Hollenbeck, Stephen Hollenbeck; stepsons, Steven Payne, John Payne; sisters, Frances Airciaga, Gertrude Wood; brothers-in-law, Emerson (Jean) Groves, Lester (Betty) Groves, Charles Groves Jr.; sister-in-law Kathy McDowell; several nieces and nephews.

Byrne, Richard K., January 29, 2003, age 54. Predeceased by his father, Kenneth Byrne. Survived by his children, Michelle Byrne, Shannon Byrne; mother, Marion Byrne; brother, David Byrne; sister, Sharon (Robert) Turlington; friend and mother of his children, Kathie Byrne.
A Memorial Mass was said February 3 at St. Lawrence Church. Contributions can be made to American Heart Association in his memory.
Wyckoff, Hilda C., February 1, 2003, age 87. Predeceased by her husband, C. Stanley Wyckoff. Survived by her niece, Janet (Ron) LaBorie; nephew, Paul (Nancy) Cropsey; great-nieces, Sharon LaBorie and Jill (J.P.) St. Jacques; great-nephew, Keith LaBorie.
Services were held at the convenience of the family. Contributions can be made to a charity of one's choice.
PARMA
Shaver, Ralph J. "Red," February 5, 2003, age 82. He is survived by his wife, June E. Shaver; his daughter, Cheryl (Karl) Fishbaugh; his grandson, Kyle (Elizabeth) Fishbaugh; three brothers, Robert (Jean), Lynn (Alice) and Ned Shaver; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was a WWII Veteran and a retiree of Eastman Kodak Company.
Funeral Services were held February 8 at Parma Baptist Community Church, 4994 Ridge Road West, Spencerport. Spring interment, Parma Union Cemetery. Those wishing can make contributions to his Church Memorial Fund or Beikirch Care Center in his memory.
WATERPORT
Lynch, Ida Watt, 100, of Oak Orchard River Road, died Sunday, February 2, 2003 at her home. She was predeceased by her husband, Gerald F. Lynch, and is survived by several distant relatives and many friends. She was a retired school teacher, having taught in several schools for many years. She was also active in many community organizations including the Red Cross, Home Bureau, and a Republican Party supporter.
A Funeral Service was held February 7 at the First Baptist Church in Albion. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Cobblestone Society.
