Girl Scouts summer camp
information sessions set for March
The Girl Scouts of Genesee Valley invites all girls, ages 5-17, to participate in its summer program. (Girls do not need to be currently registered in Girl Scouts to sign up for summer camp).
Girls and their parents are invited to attend a summer camp information session 7 to 9 p.m. on March 6 at the Girl Scouts' GLOW Center at 50 Genesee Country Mall in Batavia or 7 to 9 p.m. on March 20 at the Girl Scout Program Center at 1020 John Street in West Henrietta.
Girl Scout's operate a resident camp at Camp Pinewood (nestled in the hills of the Finger Lakes region near Dansville) and day camp at three scenic locations - Oak Orchard (near Medina), Piperwood (in Perinton) and Camp Pinewood (near Dansville).
At resident camp, girls may choose from more than 20 themes, including the ropes course, horseback riding, backpacking, hiking, and drama. Sessions run from July 6 through August 8. Girls entering grades 1-3 sleep in a lodge, and girls entering grades 4 to 12 sleep in either A-frames or platform tents.
At day camp, girls make new friends, hike, play games, sing songs, cook out, and make crafts. Beginning horseback riding is offered at Piperwood and Oak Orchard. One-week sessions run from July 7 through August 15.
Daily bus transportation is available for day camp programs. Extended hour care is available for girls attending Camp Piperwood in Perinton. Parents may drop off girls at Camp Piperwood anytime after 7:30 a.m. and pick them up anytime before 5:30 p.m.
