Daemen College Dean Dr. Edwin Clausen announces the following student(s) achieving dean's list status at Daemen College for the fall, 2002 semester. Jeannine Van Aernum of Kristin Drive, Rochester, achieved dean's list status at Daemen College for the fall 2002 semester. She is a special and elementary education major and a member of the class of 2004.


Mark Champlin has joined Cardinal Lawn & Landscape, Inc. as manager of Residential Landscape Design and Sales. He brings 25 years of landscape-nursery experience to Cardinal and is a certified nursery professional (CNP) by the New York State Nursery/Landscape Association, Inc.


Evan Guerin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Guerin of Hilton, has been named to the president's list for the fall semester at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, New York. He is studying electronic media communications.


Joshua Johnson, son of Floyd and Sandra Johnson, of North Chili, has been named to the dean's list of Spring Arbor University. Johnson, a sophomore, is a mathematics major.

The dean's list recognizes full-time students who have received a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester.


Grove City College has named the following students to the dean's list for the fall 2002 semester.

  • Amy Knight, presidential scholar, elementary education, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Knight, Spencerport. She is a 2000 graduate of Spencerport High School.
  • Jonathan Meyers, elementary education, son of Charmian S. Perry, Spencerport. He is a 2000 graduate of Spencerport High School.
  • Robert Stevens, with distinction, elementary education, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gary R. Stevens, Brockport. He is a 2000 graduate of Brockport High School.

To qualify for the dean's list a student must have an average of 3.4 out of a possible 4.0, or better than a B+ grade. Levels of academic performance include: dean's list of presidential scholars - 3.85 to 4.0; dean's list with distinction - 3.6 to 3.84; dean's list - 3.4 to 3.59.


Marisa Roach, Spencerport, has been named to the dean's list for the 2002 fall semester at Houghton College. Students must earn a GPA of 3.7 or higher and carry a full-time course load of at least 12 hours.


Nazareth College in Rochester announces the following students named to the dean's list for the fall 2002 semester. Students named to the dean's list must be enrolled full time and must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for the semester.

  • Laurance Bish, North Chili; Breanne McDowell, Spencerport.

Allison Murphy, a member of the Wells College Class of 2004, is among 120 Wells College students participating in the college's January internship program. Murphy is involved in an internship at Nazareth Schools in Rochester. She is the daughter of Carol Murphy of Spencerport and Raymond Murphy of Bergen.


SUNY Potsdam announces the following students who have been named either to the president's list or the dean's list for the 2002 fall semester.

  • Keith Allan Compertore, son of Ray and Beverly Compertore,
    Spencerport, dean's list.
  • Sean Michael Dray, Spencerport, music education and
    performance music, dean's list.
  • Holland Elizabeth Gursslin, Brockport, music education, dean's list.
  • Michelle Anne Keenan, Spencerport, music education
    and mathematics, president's list.

To achieve the honor of being on the president's list, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically graded semester hours that semester with a minimum grade point average of 3.5.

To achieve the honor of being on the dean's list, each student must have satisfactorily completed 12 numerically graded semester hours that semester with a grade point average of between 3.25 and 3.49.


The following Canisius College students have been named to the dean's list for the 2002 fall semester:

  • Katie Boetcher, of Harwood Road, Spencerport, awarded academic merit, is a junior communication studies major.
  • Katie Carpenter, of Spencerport, awarded academic merit, is a freshman dean's list student.
  • Jason Downer, of Maier Circle, Spencerport, awarded academic merit, is a senior history major.
  • Daniel Surdyk, of Spencerport, is a senior bioinformatics major.

Brandon Steinorth, son of Rob and Sheila Steinorth, of Rolling Meadow Drive, Hilton, has been awarded the Anne Siegel Scholarship for the current academic year at Ithaca College. Steinorth, a social studies major at the school of Humanities and Sciences, is a representative in the Student Government Association. He is also in chorus, Ithacapella, an Emerson scholar and on the dean's list.

The Anne Siegel Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a junior or senior who most closely personifies the qualities and attributes of the late Anne Siegel '81. These prerequisites include good academic performance and involvement in the extracurricular life of Ithaca College.


Marine Corps Reserve Pfc. Daniel D. Klotzbach, son of Gail A. Blotzbach of Big Ridge Road, Spencerport, and Darwin R. Klotzbach of Village Walk, Spencerport, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.

Klotzbach successfully completed 12 weeks of training designed to challenge new Marine recruits both physically and mentally. He is a 1999 graduate of Spencerport High School.
