Brockport sweeps men's and women's players of the week
The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's and women's SUNYAC Basketball Players of the Week for the week ending February 2 were Brockport's Brandon Mills (Rochester/Spencerport) and Kristen Clark (Hilton/Hilton).
Mills averaged 19.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, three steals and 1.3 blocks as the Golden Eagles went 2-1 on the week. He was perfect from the field in an 89-75 win over Fredonia and finished with 20 points and six boards. In a 105-90 victory over Oneonta, the junior center was 7-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-5 from the free-throw line. He had 21 points and six boards in a double overtime loss to New Paltz (82-85). Mills sent the game into overtime by making two free throws to tie the score at 66 at the end of regulation. On the week, he shot 61.1 percent from the field and 82.3 from the free throw line. Mills ranks second in the conference in blocked shots (1.38) and fifth in free throw percentage (.767). Brockport is 8-8, 3-4 SUNYAC.
Clark wins Player of the Week honor for the third time this season after shooting 63 percent from the field last week and averaging 30.3 points in a 3-0 conference week for Brockport. She was 11-of-16 from the field, a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line in a 77-54 win over Fredonia. Clark had a season high 32 points as the Golden Eagles defeated Oneonta 82-61. She also had 15 boards in the contest. On Saturday, in an 82-73 win over New Paltz, the senior forward recorded her fifth double-double of the season, as she finished with 30 points and 11 boards. Clark leads the SUNYAC in scoring, averaging 20.2 points per game and in field goal percentage, shooting at 53.6 percent. She also ranks in the top ten in rebounding (8.0), free throw percentage (.773). Brockport improves to 13-3, 7-0 SUNYAC.
