Teacher recognition program launched by local business
Great teachers deserve to be recognized, and the Greece Sam's Club plans to do just that through its eighth annual Teacher of the Year program, which kicks off Saturday, February 8.
Anyone can nominate an outstanding teacher, according to Todd LeBeuf, 8178 General Manager, by visiting the Greece Sam's Club. Nomination forms can also be downloaded online at www.pdkintl.org and turned in at your local Sam's Club at the Member Service Desk. Nominations will be accepted until March 7.
Winning teachers receive a $1,000 educational grant from the Wal-Mart/Sam's Club Foundation for their school and an honorary Wal-Mart greeter's vest. They also have the opportunity to apply for state and national honors.
Again, this year, Wal-Mart/Sam's Club foundation will partner with Phi Delta Kappa International, the world's leading education association, to honor outstanding teachers in more that 3,400 local communities around the country. "Education is a cornerstone commitment of Wal-Mart's Good Works community involvement program," stated Todd LeBeuf, Sam's Club Greece General Manger. "We are excited about our company's partnership with Phi Delta Kappa and the opportunity this represents for us to honor outstanding teachers in Greece and across the country," he added.
