Leasure leads Blue Devil comeback
Jennifer Leasure scored nine of her team-high 21 points in the fourth quarter to lead Brockport to a 63-50 come-from-behind victory over Irondequoit in a consolation game in the Monroe County Girl's Basketball Tournament.
After leading by four points at half-time and by as many as 13 late in the third quarter, the Blue Devils allowed the Eagles to climb back into the game by scoring fourteen of the first seventeen points in the fourth quarter. After Irondequoit took a one-point lead, Brockport's Gabrielle Boley sunk two free throws to give her team the lead with 3:22 left. It was all Blue Devils after that as they used their considerable size advantage to dominate the boards and score some easy baskets.
Leasure scored seven consecutive points in the final three minutes in spite of playing with four fouls and Katie Sue Jones made three free throws in the final minute to seal the victory.
Jones finished with 15 points including three three-pointers. Boley scored twelve points and Merideth Lewis chipped in eleven. Brockport raises their record to 10-10 overall heading into the sectional playoffs.
