Ice fishing clinic offers demos and practice
Fishing's fun for everyone and that's during the wintertime too, according to Dennis McGee, Youth Director with Avon Anglers Unlimited. The Avon Anglers will co-sponsor an ice fishing clinic with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Region 8 Office on March 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the DEC's East Avon office site, 6274 E. Avon-Lima Road (Routes 5/20), about two miles east of Exit 10 off Interstate 390. There will be no charge to participate and everyone is welcome.
Club members and DEC personnel will present short sessions on fishing methods, tackle, ice safety, fish ID, regulations and accessory equipment, along with answering questions. The clinic will be held with or without ice, but the demonstrations and practice will be limited without ice. Call (585) 226-5333 or check our their webpage at www.avonanglers.com.
