Award winners honored at
Churchville Chamber of Commerce dinner
Deadline for tickets is March 7
Winners of the Churchville Chamber of Commerce's 2002 awards, which will be presented at its annual awards dinner on Thursday, March 13 at the Johnson House Restaurant have been announced. Dinner will be served at 7 p.m. following social time which begins at 6:30 p.m.
Carol and Dean Arlidge will receive the Citizens of the Year Award. They were selected because of their great involvement with the Churchville community. Dean Arlidge served on the school board of the Churchville-Chili Central Schools for many years and is currently a trustee of the Village of Churchville. He and Carol have teamed up as the secretary and newsletter writer for the Chamber of Commerce for many years, as well.
A Touch of Country Class will receive the Business of the Year award. Sue Helton and Nancy Steedman nominated the business for this award. Sue Helton wrote in her nomination, "when entertaining guests from out of state, A Touch of Country Class is a main attraction for our visitors. Returning guests always want to visit each time they come to Rochester." Nancy Steedman wrote that the "business draws many visitors to our village from near and far. We are very lucky to have such a business on Main Street."
Larry Stubing, owner of the property at 9 East Buffalo Street, will receive the Civic Beautification Award for his efforts to rehab that property.
The Chamber of Commerce will also recognize Lyndsay Wall, a member of the United States women's hockey team, which won a silver medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics held in Utah. She will receive a special award for the worldwide attention she has brought to the Churchville area.
Tickets are $20 per person and may be purchased at the Riga Town offices, Churchville Village offices and the Johnson House Restaurant. The deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, March 7.
