The Bright Raven Gymnastics Boys Team traveled to East Syracuse February 16 to compete in the 5th annual Coaches Classic earning many top honors. John Fitzgerald of Churchville captured first all around (55.10) in the Class 7 competition for boys age 8-9. In the individual events he also took first on pommel horse (9.20), first on rings (9.40), first on vault (9.20), second on parallel bars (9.30) and second on high bar (9.40). In the Class 5 competition for boys ages 12 and older, Kevin Kirkland of Greece also was awarded first all around (50.65). In the individual events he won first place in pommel horse (7.40) and rings (8.25), second place in vault (9.20), parallel bars (8.50) and floor exercise (8.50) and was third on high bar (8.80). Christian Zale of Brockport competed in the 10-11 age division of the Class 6 competition placing fourth in floor exercise (9.00) and tenth all around (48.25). Travis Gray of Scottsville competed in the same division totaling 45.50 all around. All four boys have qualified to compete in the USA Gymnastics Junior Olympics State Championships to be held March 21-23 at the State University of New York at Buffalo Alumni Arena. |
