Nominations for support professionals
sought in Hilton School District
Nominations for the Hilton Central School District Support-Related Professional of the Year will begin a program of honoring the skills and initiative shown by Hilton staff members. Nominations are due April 30, according to teacher assistant Harriet Adams, chairperson of the Selection Committee. "Nominees must be dues paying members of their local Hilton Central School Employee Association (H.C.S.E.A.) for at least five years prior to nomination," Adams said. "Applicants will be judged on performance of duties, handling of an unusual assignment, and how he/she improves the image of the school related professional."
Recipients will receive an "Outstanding Employee Award" certificate and a pin to recognize their achievements. Out of those chosen, a single member will have the honor of becoming the "School Related Professional of the Year." The person will have their name on a plaque with the year they were chosen. Final judging will be done by the H.C.S.E.A. Selection Committee and announced at the annual staff and faculty convocation held the day before school opens in September.
Those staff members eligible for the award are: aides and teachers assistants; custodians, maintenance workers, buildings and grounds workers; support staff including OT, PT, nurses, technical support personnel; secretarial and clerical personnel; and transportation workers including bus drivers, aides, and similar personnel. (Food service workers, some confidential secretaries and administrators are not eligible). Nominees should display exceptional skill and dedication on the job; promote learning; create positive relationships with parents, students, co-workers and community members; make schools safer, healthier, and more attractive; possess good interpersonal skills, and have the respect and admiration of students and co-workers; exemplify leadership through active participation in school activities; and extend themselves beyond the basic required duties by displaying initiative, creativity and overall contribution to the school system.
Nominating letters must be returned by April 30 to Harriet Adams, Hilton High School, 400 East Avenue, Hilton, NY 14468. Questions: 392-1000 ext. 2341.
