Tai Chi is one of the ancient Chinese martial arts and is the most widely practiced around the world today. Subtle and sophisticated, it consists of a series of dance-like moves, that, when performed slowly, bring out an increase in vital energy, Chi. It increases flexibility and balance and decreases stress levels.
To learn Tai Chi in all aspects, one must practice the forms slowly for health, fast for the martial aspect, both directions for balance, always analyzing the correct posture and techniques. The relaxed movements are an excellent way of reducing stress and improving overall health. Daily practice helps to deepen respiration, slow the heartbeat, and gently massage the internal organs. It improves the bodys flexibility and strengthens the legs. It is low impact, and can be done by all ages.
Registrations are being accepted now at Hilton-Parma Recreation, 59 Henry Street, Hilton. The class is open to all ages. Any questions, call 392-9030.
