Schools jump

Hilton Central Schools jump - for Heart, that is. Seventy Hilton students and their parents participated in the annual Jump Role-A-Thon for Heart. Jumping rope, bouncing on a mini tramp, calisthenics, aerobic exercising, pogo stick jumping and dancing were all done to help fight heart disease and stroke. It was quite a cardiovascular workout for all who participated.

The Jump-A-Thon was held on Saturday, March 8 at the Hilton High School gymnasium. Students from all three elementary schools raised $3,702 for the American Heart Association. Karen Walters, representative from the AHA, spoke at the event in praise of the students' and community's response to this fundraiser each year.

High money earner was Bradley Whittemore with $266. Second place was Sara Antonio raising $245. Other students bringing in $100 or more were Thomas Bianchi, Taylor Combs, Kelly Comden, and Karina Licata. Congratulations to these hard workers.

Every student earned stickers, a bookmark, a door prize, a certificate of appreciation, a coupon for free French fries, and candy. Door prizes were compliments of Hilton teachers, Hilton McDonald's and Zannie Electric.
