Orleans Chamber begins recruiting effort
Volunteer recruiters from the Orleans County Chamber of Commerce are calling prospective members to set up appointments to talk to businesses about the benefits of chamber membership. The chamber hopes to bring in 50 new members by the end of the memberships drive on April 11.
Don Colquhoun is the long time chairman of the Membership Committee and is running this year's drive. He is taking a new approach this year and compacting the usual multi-month drive into a short time frame. He and Chamber Executive Director David Kelly held three training sessions to show the 19 volunteer solicitors how to talk to people about chamber membership. Times have been dedicated to making appointments to visit prospective members and the solicitors then have until April 11 to make their calls.
Any business that was not targeted for the chamber drive, but is interested in finding out more about the benefits of being a member, can contact the chamber's office at 589-7727.
