Phi Delta Kappa, Theta Gamma Chapter, Rochester, presented the Distinguished Service Award to Dr. Pamela Kissel, assistant superintendent for instructional support at Monroe 2-Orleans BOCES.
Dr. Kissel, a city of Rochester resident, received this award for facilitating regular meetings among area assistant superintendents for instruction (ASIs). She also has been instrumental at BOCES 2 in creating the Academy for New Administrators.
Dr. Kissel has a background in education and administration. She joined BOCES 2 in August 2001. Prior to coming to BOCES 2, she was the principal at Penfield High School.
Nathaniel Emmerson, son of Debbie and Bruce Emmerson, Crestview Drive, Brockport, was named to Denison University's fall dean's list. Emmerson, a 2001 graduate of Brockport High School, is a junior Latin major at Dennison.
Students who achieve dean's list status have maintained a grade-point average of 3.5 or better (out of 4.0) for the semester.
Elizabeth Brown, daughter of Steven and Donna Brown, of Spencerport, will perform Hector Berlioz' Béatrice et Bénédict with the New York Philharmonic conducted by Sir Colin Davis April 9, 10, and 12 at Avery Fisher Hall in New York. Elizabeth is a student at Westminster Choir College of Rider University in Princeton, New Jersey and a member of the Westminster Symphonic Choir. She earned a bachelor's degree in music from Marietta College.
Jaclyn Kelley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Kelley, of Spencerport, has been named to the fall 2002 dean's list at St. John Fisher College in Rochester. Kelley, a senior, is an elementary/special education major.
To be eligible for the dean's list at St. John Fisher College, a student must have attained at least a 3.3 grade-point average for the semester.
Michelle A. Keenan, Spencerport, will be inducted into the national math honor society of Pi Mu Epsilon, New York Pi Chapter, at SUNY Potsdam.
Keenan, a senior majoring in music education, is the daughter of Stephen and Terri Keenan, Spencerport.
A Monroe County resident has been awarded approximately $2,000 for the "All-American Scholarship" to attend Alfred State College. Kristy Rhodes, of Rochester, graduated in 2001 from Churchville-Chili Senior High School and intends to enroll in the architectural engineering technology program.
The "All American Scholarship" (free board) is awarded to students who possess an 88 or better high school average through their junior year and who have achieved at least a 1100 combined SAT score or a composite ACT score of 24. Recipients must maintain a required GPA (grade point average) to continue to receive free board in subsequent semesters.
At the Women's Council of Realtors Breakfast of Champions, held January 17, at the Rochester Marriott Thruway, Sandy Blonsky and Terri Granger of the Sandy Blonsky & Terry Granger's All Star Team of Re/Max First, received the Zenith Team Award for closing 75 or more sales transactions between December 1, 2001 to November 30, 2002.
Blonsky lives in the village of Hilton and Granger lives in the town of Parma. They have full time experience in new home construction and single and multi family homes. Their full time service and commitment helps given their clients 100 percent and more.
Both are members of the Greater Rochester Association of Realtors (GRAR) and the Rochester area of Women's Council of Realtors (WCR). During their real estate careers, they have received numerous awards, including the Sales Master Gold award and Sales Master.
Jared L. Fulcher has joined the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year.
Fulcher, a 2001 graduate of Hilton High School, has reported to Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri, for basic training. He is the son of Nancy J. Halstead of Hilton and Gerald L. Fulcher of Englewood, Florida.
James E. East II has joined the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year.
East has reported to Fort Knox, Kentucky, for basic training. He is the son of Susan A. and Daniel G. Vickers of Clarendon.
William C. Guilford has joined the United States Army under the Delayed Entry Program. The program gives young men and women the opportunity to delay entering active duty for up to one year.
Guilford, a 2002 graduate of Holley Senior High School, has reported to Fort Benning, Columbus, Georgia, for basic training. He is the son of Ann M. and William T. Guilford of Holley.
