Power for Jobs Program protects jobs
Assemblymember Susan John (D-Rochester/Chili/Wheatland/Rush/Riga) announced today that Sabin Metal Corporation gained approval for low-cost power under the state's Power for Jobs Program. The low-cost power will help the company retain 198 jobs, allowing it to remain competitive.
"High-energy costs have dulled the competitive edge for a lot of industrial businesses in our region," John said. "By providing low-cost power to Sabin, we not only help them retain nearly two-hundred jobs, but also provide them a major incentive to expand operations in the future."
John also announced that during phase five of the Power for Jobs Program, Moorgood Tools Inc. will continue to receive low-cost power, allowing them to retain 69 jobs.
The Power for Jobs Program provides low-cost power to small and large businesses and not-for-profit corporations that pledge to create and retain jobs in the state. The power is allocated through the New York State Economic Development Power Allocation Board, selecting companies based on the number of jobs affected, economic strength of the area, and investments in on-site electric generation technology.
