Hilton High School Drumline
NYS champions for sixth year
Hilton High School Winter Drumline, part of the Crimson Cadet Marching Band, won their sixth straight New York Percussion Circuit Championship March 29, at Central Square High School in Syracuse.
The 33-member group's program features excerpts from Bizet's Carmen. Drumline is part choreography, part precision marching, part drama and part special effects, lighting and staging. Co-directors are Hilton instrumental music instructors Tim Stodd and Jared Streiff, with assistance from Theresa Sarrubi and Mary Yandow. Eight ensembles from around New York state performed in the competition. A parent and student support crew of 16 members also accompanied the Drumline. Other Hilton top winners were first place in Pit Percussion, Cymbal Line and Auxiliary Group.
Last year the group performed at the national level in Dayton, Ohio.
The Drumline was welcomed home to Hilton by the Hilton Fire Department with a spectacular display of fire engines, lights and sirens.
