Bright Raven gymnasts compete
Bright Raven Gymnastics teams have been traveling and competing in many different venues winning numerous awards in the past several weeks.
Most recently, Bright Raven gymnasts competed March 29-30 in the Lilac Invitational held at the ESL Sports Arena at Monroe Community College. The Level 5 team earned second place with a team total of 147.475. In the senior division, Allison Grove of Chili took first place on the uneven bars (9.425), second place on vault (9.25) and third place all around (36.65). Maura Wojak of Chili earned first place on balance beam (9.525). Emily Gutknecht of Rochester placed second on beam (9.425) and third on floor (9.625). Erin Kolb of Chili finished third on the uneven bars (9.25). Other Level 5 team members contributing to the team effort included Olivia Ferrauilo of Greece, Kristina Wolf of Hilton, Amanda Clapper of Spencerport, Danielle Peruzzini of Brockport and Amanda Arcieri of Chili.
In the senior division of the Level 4 competition, Elaina Mazzola of Chili earned second place in floor exercise (9.45) and third place on balance beam (9.035). Ashley Milizia of Chili was third on floor (9.35). Sarah Marchitelli of Gates was third on the uneven bars (9.20).
In the Level 6 senior division, Amber Kober of Ogden placed third on floor exercise (9.15).
At the 9/10 state championships held in Mohegan Lake March 15-16, Shauna Gentile of Scottsville was named the state champion in vaulting of the Senior Level 9 division taking first place with a score of 9.075. Both Shauna Gentile and Randi Bisbano (Level 10) of Greece have qualified to advance to Regional competition to be held this month in Massachusetts.
At the Boys State Championships held at the University of Buffalo March 23, Kevin Kirkland of Greece tied for first place in vaulting with a score of 9.55. He was also awarded third place on pommel horse with a score of 9.00.
