New date set for Spencerport Schools' Budget Hearing
Spencerport Schools' Budget Hearing will take place on Tuesday, May 27, a change brought about following state lawmakers' decision to postpone the school budget vote. The budget hearing will be a presentation of the proposed school budget for the 2003-04 school year, and those present will have an opportunity to ask questions. The presentation will include updated information from the state if it is available.
Two other budget presentations are scheduled. One will be at Bernabi Elementary School at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 8. The other is at Munn Elementary School at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 12. All district residents are invited to attend. The vote will take place on Tuesday, June 3 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Munn and Taylor Elementary Schools and at the Administration Building.
Meet the Candidates Night will remain on the originally scheduled date of May 13 at 7 p.m. at the Administration Building. This is an opportunity for district residents to meet the four people running for two seats on the school board. Candidates will answer questions from those present. Board president Lawrence Fenity and board member Diana Powell-Keery, whose seats expire in June, are not running again.
At 6:30 that night, just prior to the Meet the Candidates session, the district will conduct a public hearing, as required by the state, on the district's safe schools plan, the code of conduct and the attendance policy. There are a few revisions proposed for the safe schools plan and the attendance policy. No revisions are proposed for the code of conduct. After the public hearing, the documents will go to the school board for approval at the June 24 board meeting.
