Keeping seniors safe from falls and other hazards is the mission of a unique program. In Monroe County, LIFESPAN has received a grant that offers apartment and home safety assessments and provides/installs safety equipment free to eligible seniors.

Some of the items available are: grab bars, bath benches, hand-held showers, carbon monoxide detectors, kitchen fire extinguishers, locks, and similar items.

Eligible seniors must be 62 or older or disabled, with an income limit of $31,850 yearly for a single person, and $36,400 yearly income for a couple. (Assets are not included in this figure).
