Revenue approved by lawmakers in state budget

The state budget recently passed by lawmakers in Albany provides Spencerport Central School District with more revenue than originally projected in the governor's proposed budget.

Spencerport Superintendent Phillip W. Langton indicates that the budget passed by lawmakers gives the school board an opportunity to consider restoring programs cut from the budget and reducing the estimated tax rate increase. Langton will provide the school board with detailed information regarding the anticipated additional revenue at the May 13 board meeting. Langton will also make recommendations on how to apply the funds.

At 7 p.m. on May 13, just before the board meeting, school board candidates will make presentations and answer questions from community residents. John Goehle, Jim Oberlin, Todd Dunn and William Ewsuk (listed in ballot order) are running for two open board seats. Board president Lawrence Fenity and board member Diana Powell-Keery, whose seats expire in June, are not running again.

Meet the Candidates Night and the following school board meeting will take place in the board room at the Administration Building, 71 Lyell Avenue.
