Chili supervisor seeks re-election
Chili Supervisor Steve Hendershott announced that he will seek a third term. Hendershott, a Republican, was first elected Supervisor in 1999. He served as a Councilman for nine years prior to that. Hendershott stated that he will run on his record of tax cuts, job creation, the receipt of unprecedented levels of grant money and expanded service to seniors and children. "I am very proud of the many positive accomplishments my administration has achieved in recent years," said Hendershott. "We have expanded senior programs and made improvements to the Senior Center, added 26 new youth recreation programs since January 2000, and have had two tax rate decreases." Under his administration, the Town has also sought out and received $2.5 million in grant money.
On April 17, the Chili Republican Committee endorsed Hendershott unanimously. "I was proud to put my record before the committee and ask for their endorsement and very pleased to receive it," said Hendershott.
In February, Hendershott proposed building an indoor recreation facility to serve the youth of Chili. The Town Board agreed and appointed a committee to begin working on the project. "Chili kids deserve to have an indoor facility that can accommodate soccer, baseball, football, cheerleading and lacrosse," said Hendershott. "I want to take positive steps to make that dream a reality."
Hendershott was appointed by Governor Pataki to the NYS Committee on Open Government in 2002. He is an Honorably Discharged U.S. Army veteran, a member of Chili American Legion Post 1830, a member of Saint Pius X Church, and serves as Secretary of the Monroe County Supervisors Association. A near life long Chili resident, Steve lives on Cassandra Circle with his wife, Irene, and daughter, Stephanie.
