VOA now accepts vehicle donations in Brockport
Volunteers of America can now accept car donations at its Brockport Retail Center, 4750 Lake Road, in the Brockport Commons Mall.
Volunteers of America has been accepting donations of used vehicles (including cars, boats and RVs) in the Rochester area for more than 25 years.
"By accepting car donations at the Brockport Retail Center, Volunteers of America is trying to make the donation process more convenient for people who live in western Monroe County and Orleans County," said Patience Long, Public Relations Manager for Volunteers of America. "It may be unrealistic for people living in places like Albion or Medina to drive a car into downtown Rochester to donate it."
People who donate used vehicles to VOA can receive a tax deduction if they itemize on their taxes. Volunteers of America sells the donated vehicles to wholesalers in the area (Volunteers of America does not sell used cars to individuals).
Proceeds from donated vehicles support VOA's human service programs including housing and support services for the homeless, childcare and educational programs for disadvantaged children, drug and alcohol recovery programs and crisis assistance for individuals and families in need.
Volunteers of America accepts donations at the Brockport Retail Center during business hours, which are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
People interested in donating a car should call 1-800-462-1715 to ensure their vehicle meets VOA guidelines and that they have the correct paperwork. People can also donate their used car at VOA's Administration office at 214 Lake Avenue in Rochester. Volunteers of America offers free towing in Monroe County
