Edeiken was a biochemistry/molecular biology major at Hamilton. She is a graduate of Hilton Central School.

Paolini was a government major at Hamilton. He is a graduate of Choate Rosemary Hall.
Jessica Lynne Schultz, a granddaughter of Bob and Vicki Loughridge and daughter of Brian and Jennifer Balonek, all of Churchville, and a graduate of Rochester School for the Deaf, was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Gallaudet University, Washington, D.C.
Jennifer (Loughridge) Balonek, of Churchville, received a master's degree in public administration, summa cum laude, from SUNY Brockport on May 17. Balonek is a contract and project manager at General Code Publishers and is a member of the Riga Conservation Board; the National Honor Society for Public Affairs and Administration; the American Society for Public Administration; and the International Municipal Lawyer's Association.

Robert Day of Spencerport, who received the American Bar Association/Bureau of National Affairs (ABA/BNA) Award for Excellence in the Study of Intellectual Property Law, which is presented to honor superior academic performance and encourage student interest in the field of intellectual property law. Day also received the Adolf Homburger Law Alumni Association Award as the graduating senior whose academic achievement in civil procedure and whose compassion for people best exemplify the qualities that Adolf Homburger, a UB Law School faculty member from 1960-77, sought to instill in his students.
Lorenzo Napolitano of Spencerport received the Moot Evidence Award presented for the most outstanding performance in the area of evidence.
Keuka College students Hannah Stenglein, Katie Merrill and Valerie Hare were recognized at the college's annual Honors Convocation.
Stenglein, a sophomore American Sign Language/unified special education major and resident of Churchville, received the Outstanding Education Award, and the Charles Wallis Memorial Prize in the Humanities.
Merrill, a junior occupational therapy major and resident of Hilton, was inducted into Phi Theta Epsilon Honor Society (occupational therapy).
Hare, a junior nursing major and resident of Hilton, received the Lavina L. Dock Award in Nursing.
Amanda McCullough, the daughter of Jan and Mike McCullough of Spencerport, received a bachelor of arts degree in history at the 75th commencement of Mercyhurst College in Erie, Pennsylvania on May 24-25.
Amanda is a 1999 graduate of Spencerport High School. She will be working at Disney World.
Laurance Bish of North Chili, was named to the dean's list for the spring 2003 semester at Nazareth College, Rochester.
Rebekah Tanner of Spencerport, delivered the valedictory address at her graduation from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev M.D. Program in International Health and Medicine in collaboration with Columbia University Health Sciences (BGU-CU M.D.). The new program aims to equip future physicians with the skills to advance global health and improve healthcare for diverse populations throughout the world.
Tanner, who is the daughter of Amos and Mary Tanner of Spencerport, received a bachelor of science degree in biology from Houghton College in 1998. Prior to enrolling in the BGU-CU-M.D. program, she spent three months in Tanzania working in mobile village medical clinics.
Having studied international health and medicine in Israel, Nepal and New York City, Tanner looks forward to joining the family practice department at Williamsport Hospital and Medical Center in Pennsylvania as a first-year resident in July.
James Oswald, of Atlanta, New York, graduated from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode island on May 17 with a bachelor of science degree in computer systems.
He was a 1998 graduate of Hilton High School and is the son of Robert J. Jr. and Cynthia Oswald. He also holds an associate degree in marine biology from Mitchell College in New London, Connecticut.
A Monroe County resident has been awarded approximately $3,000 for the presidential scholarship to attend Alfred State College.
Thomas Cardot of Rochester is slated to graduate in 2003 from Spencerport High School and intends to enroll in the veterinary technology program.
The "Presidential Scholarship" (free room, double occupancy) is awarded to students who possess a 90 or better high school average through their junior year and who have achieved a minimum SAT score of 1150 or a composite ACT score of 25. Recipients must maintain a required GPA (grade point average) to continue to receive free room in subsequent semesters.
Timothy J. Wise, of Bergen, has graduated magna cum laude from SUNY at Buffalo with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. He was also inducted into the Psy-Chi National Honor Society. He will begin his graduate studies at Buffalo in the fall of 2003.
Wise is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wise of Warboys Road, Bergen.
Bradley F. Povelaites has decided to attend Clarkson University in the fall of 2003, and as a freshman at Clarkson plans to major in mechanical engineering. Bradley is the son of Charles and Margaret Povelaites, Whittier Road, Rochester, and attends Aquinas Institute Rochester in Rochester. He received a leadership scholarship.
Scott Snyder, a senior at Brockport High School, will be attending Syracuse University in the fall as a chemical engineering major. Snyder was named a Chancellor's Scholar at Syracuse, an honor bestowed on students who have distinguished themselves through outstanding academic achievement. He also received a University Scholarship and was named a Centennial Scholar in the College of Engineering and Computer Science.
Kevin M. Glor, son of Ronald and Debra Glor, of Westside Drive, Ogden, graduated May 17 from SUNY Brockport with an A.A.S. degree in Physical Education, Exercise Physiology.
He is a Certified Personal Trainer at Midtown Athletic Club.
Ronald Arnold, son of Raymond and Rosemarie Arnold of Manitou Road in Hilton and a Bishop Kearney High School junior, enrolled in the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine (NYLF/MED), taking place in Los Angeles, California from July 19 to July 28. During this career development program, Arnold will join more than 350 other high school students from around the country who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential and an interest in medicine.
Throughout the ten-day forum, NYLF/MED will introduce Arnold to a variety of concepts in public health, medical ethics, research and general practice, including site visits to medical facilities and clinics. Students will engage in a simulation using problem-based learning, an educational method in which students will be presented a fictional patient's case history and must diagnose and develop a treatment plan for the patient.
In addition to site visits to cutting-edge medical schools and clinical facilities, Arnold will have the opportunity to hear from and interact with leaders within the medical field. Students have up-close personal contact with physicians, surgeons, researchers, scientists and medical educators as they go behind the scenes to view these professionals at work.
At Kearney, Arnold is an honor roll student and a standout on the hockey team.
President George Bush presented Loraleigh Ann Roller, daughter of Ann and Brian Roller of Hilton, with her commission as an officer in the United States Coast Guard on May 21, 2003. She graduated with honors from the United States Coast Guard Academy earning a bachelor of science degree in management carrying a 4.0 GPA.
After reporting back to the Academy for the summer as an Officer In Charge of Swab Summer, she reports to her ship, the Tahoma, a 270 foot endurance cutter out of New Bedford Massachusetts as Deck Watch Officer. Her cutter will be performing duties which include Home Land Security, Drug and Migrant Interdiction and upholding Fishery Laws.
Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Cheryl J. Strong has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
She is the daughter of Robert Strong of Chadlee Drive, Brockport, and Susan Strong of Newark, NY.
Strong graduated in 1998 from Brockport High School, and received an associate degree in 2002 from Monroe Community College.
Julia Anne Downs, daughter of Karen and Bryan Downs of Johnson Road, Churchville, received her bachelor of science degree in management from the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, on May 21.
After receiving her degree, she shook hands with President George W. Bush, who was the graduation speaker.
Downs was presented with her commission as an ensign in the US Coast Guard by her grandfather, Timothy J. Downs, Jr., Colonel USAF (Ret.), of Chili. Her great-grandfather, Timothy J. Downs, was also a Coast Guard officer.
In June, Ensign Downs will begin her duty aboard the 378 ft. Coast Guard Cutter Gallatin, in Charleston, South Carolina. She is a 1999 graduate of Byron-Bergen High School.
Air National Guard Airman 1st Class Jeremy J. Knent has graduated from the aircraft electrical and environmental systems apprentice course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas.
Knent is the son of Debbie A. and Michael Mannix of Laurence Road, Hilton and a 2002 graduate of Brockport High School.
Army Pvt. Christopher G. Castanzo has arrived for duty at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Castanzo, a security apprentice, is assigned to the 21st Security Forces Squadron.
His parents are Gary V. and Lynn M. Castanzo of Overlook Drive, Hilton.
Castanzo is a 2002 graduate of Hilton High School.
Army Pfc. Leah N. Strauss has graduated from the multichannel transmission systems operator-maintainer course at Fort Gordon, Augusta, Georgia.
Strauss is the daughter of Cynthia K. and Timothy A. Strauss of Church Road, Hilton and a 2002 graduate of Hilton High School.
Air Force Airman Micah J. Chapman has graduated from basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
He is the son of Marilyn and step-son of Robert VanNiel of Euler Road, Churchville. He is a 2000 graduate of Churchville-Chili Senior High School.
Air Force Cadet John P. Ayers has received recognition as a freshman fourth class cadet by all the sophomore through senior cadets in his class for completing training efforts at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
The fourth class cadets undergo rigorous training tests of physical fitness, strength, agility, and mental endurance. Cadets are formally recognized in a squadron ceremony which acknowledges the effort, teamwork, and dedication of each freshman in the entire squadron. The academy fourth class cadets are awarded the Prop and Wing pin to wear on their flight caps.
Ayers is pursuing a degree in military history. He is the son of Steven and Patricia Ayers of Hilton and a 2002 graduate of Hilton High School.
