A Brockport Central School teacher was recognized by Sam's Club in Greece on May 6 as the Teacher of the Year. Marcia Hickey, a teacher at Ginther Elementary School in Brockport, was presented a $1,000 educational grant from the Wal-Mart/Sam's Club Foundation for her school and an honorary Wal-Mart greeter's vest. She also has the opportunity to apply for state and national honors.

Wal-Mart's Teacher of the Year program recognizes teachers throughout the country. Since its inception in 1995, the Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year program has recognized more than 14,000 teachers nationwide and contributed $10.5 million to those schools.
