Golfers get into the swing of things
On Monday, June 23, golfers from Upstate New York will be participating in the 9th annual Golf Fore MS Tournament presented by Trident Precision Manufacturing, Inc. It will be held at Shadow Lake and Shadow Pines Golf Courses in Penfield.
"This tournament isn't just a fundraising event but it has evolved into a full day of camaraderie between fellow golfers who all have a shared commitment to the mission: to end the devastating effects of MS," says Barry Culhane, former Chair of the National MS Society's Board of Directors.
The tournament begins with a shotgun start at 12 p.m. Raffle prizes, contests, as well as lunch and dinner will be provided. All the monies raised will support local programs and researchers working towards a cause, treatments, and a cure for multiple sclerosis.
Multiple sclerosis is a chronic, often disabling disease of the central nervous system, with symptoms ranging from mild numbness of the limbs to the severities of paralysis to blindness. MS is the #1 disabler of young adults, with most individuals being diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50. More than 6,400 individuals in Upstate New York have been diagnosed with MS, with a new case being diagnosed every hour.
