Three high school juniors
to attend Empire Girls State
Three area high school juniors have been chosen to represent their schools at the American Legion Auxiliary's program Empire Girls State sessions at Utica College, the week of June 29-July 3.
Selected by Ferris Goodridge Unit 330, is Spencerport High School junior Laura Uschold, Hiawatha Trail, Spencerport, daughter of Thomas and Ruth Uschold. She is a member of student government, concert band and choir, National Honor Society, plays soccer, varsity indoor and out door track and field and tutors.
Representing Churchville-Chili High School is Sabrina Kenfield, Chili Avenue, the selection of Harvey C. Noone Unit, Churchville. She is the daughter of Patricia Kenfield and Robert Hill. Kenfield is a member of National Honor Society, junior Link Leader, a two-year member of National Foreign Language Honor Society, and participates in a co-op program called New Visions.
Andrea Roether, a Churchville-Chili junior, represents Robert Shaw Unit #100. Shaw, of Riga/Mumford Road, is the daughter of Jerald and Sandra Roether. She is a member of Student and Executive Council, Link Crew, Foreign Language Club, National Honor Society and Foreign Language Honor Society.
The three area high school juniors will be among the 360 young women attending the 51st Mythical Empire Girls State sessions, a week long non-partisan Americanism program. It emphasizes citizens duties, rights and responsibilities in the political and government processes.
