Anderson was recently accepted into the Seaman to Admiral program and will be attending Old Dominion University in Norfolk beginning January 2004 to pursue a degree in electrical engineering. He will, after completing his degree, return to active service as an officer.

He is the son of Mark and Cindy Anderson of Bergen. He joined the Navy in 1998 upon completing high school at Byron-Bergen. His brother, EM 3 Daniel Anderson, is also in the Navy, stationed in Charleston, South Carolina.
