Lakeside Health System board
elects officers and board members
The following were elected officers to the Lakeside Health System Board for the 2003-04 term at the annual meeting in May: Chriss M. Andrews, chairperson; Marcia Fowler, vice chairperson; Donald Pophal, treasurer; and Elizabeth Caruso, secretary.
Chriss M. Andrews, owner and president of Hometowne Energy, served on the hospital Board of Directors for seven years. Previously, he served as chairperson of the Lakeside Foundation Board from 1993 to 1996 and was a member since 1990. Andrews and his wife, Wendy, acted as co-chairs of the Steering Committee for Lakeside's "Building for the Next Generation" Capital Campaign, raising over $3,160,000. They reside in Brockport.
Marcia Fowler, a retired elementary school teacher for the Brockport Central School District, has been involved with Lakeside in many capacities. Fowler served on the Lakeside Beikirch Care Center Board of Directors since 1996, most recently as its chairperson from 1998. She also serves on Lakeside Foundation's Annual Dinner Planning Committee and volunteered for the "Building for the Next Generation" capital campaign.
Don Pophal has served on the hospital board for the past three years. He is Director of Operations at Kodak and brings many years of business and financial experience to his volunteer work on the board. Pophal resides in Brockport.
Elizabeth Caruso joined the hospital board in March 1998. She is director of the SUNY Student Health & Counseling Centers. In that capacity she has been coordinating health care services for students with staff of Lakeside Memorial Hospital and its Family Wellness Center for many years. Caruso is a life long resident of Brockport.
Also elected were four new board members. Charles Colby, president of Colby Homestead Farms, Inc., is a life-long resident of Spencerport. Colby brings many years of business experience and community involvement. He has held many leadership roles including board member and treasurer of Cornell Coop Extension Monroe County, member and past president of the Kiwanis Club of Spencerport, director of New York Farm Bureau and director of Farm Family Ins. Co.
Donald L. Lenhard, also a resident of Spencerport for the last 43 years, is director of Continuing Education for Spencerport Central Schools. He has many years of experience in public relations, communications and graphic communications. He also served as chairman of the Spencerport Canal Days Committee, chairman of the Bicentennial Celebration Committee, director/advisor of the Youth Drama Club, director of the Spencerport Lions Club Variety Shows, member of the Spencerport Zoning and Planning Committee and served as a moderator for Spencerport White Church.
Returning to the board is Becky L. McCorry-Campbell, who served on the Lakeside Child Care Board for several years. She also served as past vice chairperson of the Lakeside Health System Board and co-chaired the Hamlin/Clarkson Committee of Lakeside's capital campaign. McCorry-Campbell is currently the director of Emergency Services for the American Red Cross and NYS Disaster Lead. She is a life-long resident of Hilton.
Lakeside Foundation Board of Directors reluctantly said farewell to Robert Slocum as he transferred to the health system Board of Directors. Slocum served on the foundation board for six years. He also co-chaired the Kendall Committee of Lakeside's capital campaign and chaired the Kendall Medical Office Building Committee, which successfully raised over $364,000 to build a permanent office building for a physician in Kendall. Slocum is a self employed attorney at law with offices in Brockport. He resides in Kendall.
