Oak Orchard Community Health Center
celebrates 30th anniversary
For over a generation, Orleans and Western Monroe County have become better places to live thanks to the dedication of the hard working doctors and health care providers at Oak Orchard Community Health Center. Since its founding in 1973, Oak Orchard Community Health Center has grown into the area's largest comprehensive health care facility offering integrated medical, dental and optometry services. Complete services are available in the main Brockport office while primary medical care is available at the Albion satellite office.
"Our mandate has always been to serve the "under-served" - migrants and uninsured patients who might otherwise go without proper healthcare," says David Fisher, Oak Orchard's president. "And while we're noted for that, it's satisfying to see increasing numbers of insured patients making the choice to come to Oak Orchard."
To celebrate its 30th anniversary, Oak Orchard is hosting a free public celebration at its Brockport office at 300 West Avenue on Saturday, August 16 from 1 to 5 p.m. Entertainment includes the Corazon Mexicano Youth Dancers; Country Western Artist Josie Waverly with JB & Company (from 3:30 to 5 p.m.); and the Orleans Community Mass Choir. In addition, there will be 1973 prices on hot dogs, sodas and ice cream.
Later this year, Oak Orchard will be "rolling out" its new Mobile Dental Lab. By bringing preventative dental care to migrant camps and other areas of concern, they'll be doing more for children, especially in the area of prevention and long-term health. When begun at an early age, modern dental technologies can make a huge improvement in dental health - which has a positive correlation in areas like nutrition and academic success.
Both of the Oak Orchard Health's offices offers extended evening hours and the Brockport office offers Saturday appointments. Spanish translation is available - e Habla Espanol - Nosotros Hablamos. Oak Orchard Community Health Center accepts most Rochester and Buffalo insurance plans including Community Blue Advantage, Medicaid, Medicare, Child Health Plus and Family Health Plus. For uninsured patients they have a sliding fee scale based on income.
