AREA

Helfrich, Sister Marie Joseph SSJ, August 4, 2003. She is survived by her cousins, Rev. Fred Helfrich, Rev. Peter Helfrich, Ray Helfrich; and her Sisters in the Congregation of St. Joseph.

A Funeral Liturgy was held August 7 at the Sisters of St. Joseph Motherhouse. Interment, St. John's Cemetery, Spencerport. Donations can be made to Sisters of St. Joseph of Rochester, 150 French Road, Pittsford, NY 14534 in her memory.


McMullen, Charles Lewis (McMullen), Monday, August 4, 2003 at age 52. Predeceased by his father, Charles McMullen. Survived by his wife, Nancy; mother, Eula; brothers, Timothy (Marilyn), Jack (Joann), William and Robert (Barbara); sister, Deborah (John) Rath; mother and father-in-law, Jack and Ruthann Stubbs; brother-in-law, John (Cheryl) Stubbs; sister-in-law, Joanne (Chris) Williams; and several nieces and nephews. He was a Special Education Teacher with The Rochester City School District and volunteered with Monroe County Special Olympics Program. He was a successful runner associated with Rochester Track Club and the Genesee Valley Harriers and an avid fisherman.

Funeral Mass was said August 8 at Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment, Parma Corners Cemetery. Con-tributions can be made to the Lipson Cancer and Blood Center at Rochester General Hospital or Monroe County Special Olympics in his memory.


BERGEN

•Kennedy, Lawrence E. "Larry," Saturday, August 2, 2003 at age 69. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Theresa A. Kennedy; his children, Lynn (Gary) Rivers, Sharon (Randy) Olson and Larry Kennedy; his grandchildren, Katrina, Kelly and Joey Rivers, Sara and Kimberly Olson; his mother Catherine Kennedy; sister June Procop; brother Robert (Nancy) Kennedy; sister-in-law Darlene Kennedy; mother-in-law Theresa Soock; brother-in-law John (Anna) Soock; several nieces, nephews and many good friends. He was predeceased by his father Lawrence B. Kennedy; his brother Ken and brother-in-law Joe Soock and Lloyd Procop. He was a member of BAC Local #3, Churchville Moose Lodge, the Chili Volunteer Fire Department and was Past President of the Chili Volunteer Fire Department Exempts.

Funeral Services were held August 5 at Walker Brothers Company Funeral Home Inc., Churchville. Private interment. Contributions can be made to GRHC/Hospice or to the American Cancer Society in his memory.


BROCKPORT

•Gioseffi, Rose F., On August 4, 2003. She is survived by her daughter, Christine (Jack) Mazzarella; three grandchildren, Marjorie (Lynn) Smith, Susan (Bill) Neidlenger and Ronald (Francine) Mazzarella; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass was said August 8 at the Church of the Nativity, Brockport. Interment, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Western Monroe Historical Society (Morgan Manning House) or the Lakeside Beikirch Care Center in her memory.


CHURCHVILLE

Schwertfeger, Edna Marie, August 5, 2003 at age 90. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur E. Schwertfeger. She is survived by her son Robert (Suzanne) Schwertfeger; her daughters, Bonnie Cole Wermuth and Debbie (Frank) Bonnewell; four grandchildren, David (Kimberly) and Ellen Schwertfeger, Todd and Scott (Danielle) Bonnewell; five great grandchildren; her brother Donald (Norma) Hofert; her sisters, Ruth Lewis and Betty (Dominic) Farina; several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Ogden Senior Center, SCOR and was a Charter Member of FISH.

A Funeral Service was held August 8 at Union Congregational UCC, Churchville. Interment, Creekside Cemetery. Contributions can be made to the Memorial Fund of Union Congregational UCC, 14 North Main Street, Churchville 14428 in her memory.


HAMLIN

Goff, Nancy M., August 4, 2003 at age 90. Wife of the late Donald E. Goff; mother of Stuart (Marcia) Goff; sister of Frank (late Ruth) Christopher and Alfred (Betty) Christopher; grandmother of Heather Goff and the late Patrick D. Goff; also survived by several nieces and nephews, including Gene (Judy) Christopher and cousins.

A Memorial Mass was said August 9 at St. Joseph's Church, Batavia. Interment, St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Batavia Nursing Home, 257 State Street, Batavia, NY 14020.

•Polka, Albin T., August 2, 2003, age 88. Predeceased by his wife, Mary. Survived by his children, Alan (Linda) Polka, William Polka, Christine (Arthur) Kilmer; sisters, Julia Domalski, Helen (Al) Sypula; grandchildren, Lynn (William) Denise, James Polka; great-grandchildren, Alyssa and Michael Denise, Marley Polka; many nieces, nephews and friends.

•Surridge, Elmore J., August 4, 2003 age 85. He is survived by his wife, June (Henry) Surridge; his loving brother, George Surridge Sr.; his very special niece, Linda Cahill; many other nieces, nephews and friends.

•Wright, Vera L. (Walker), On July 15, 2003. A loving and devoted mother. She is survived by her children Christine (Jim) Youker, Cheryl (Greg) Eichas, and Norman (Jill) Wright; her grandchildren Carissa Youker, Claudia and Alex Eichas, and Rebecca and Laura Wright; sisters Grace Lockwood, Elizabeth (Frank) Tulley, and Patricia (Duane) Miner; brothers David Walker and Curtis (Mona) Walker and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 14 State Street, Brockport 14420 on Saturday, September 13, 2003 at 3 p.m.


HOLLEY

•Long, Maryalice, age 39, died July 31, 2003 at her home after a long illness. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Jr., whom she married in 1983; children, Raymond III and Elizabeth both of Holley; her mother, Delores Anderson of Buffalo; nine brothers, Donnie (Linda) Anderson of Buffalo, Richard (Brenda) Anderson of Buffalo, David (Gail) Anderson of Newfane, Harry (Barbara) Anderson of Buffalo, William Anderson of Buffalo, Earl (Laurie) Anderson of Buffalo, Leonard Anderson of Buffalo, Larry (Rose) Anderson of Buffalo, Alfred (Cindy) Anderson of Buffalo; one sister, Patty Jo Anderson of Florida. Also surviving are mother and father-in-law Maryanne and Ray Sr. Long of Buffalo; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said August 5 at St. Mary's Church, Holley. Interment, Hillside Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.

•Blum, Jeanette S. (Schlaffer), August 4, 2003 at age 64. She is survived by her husband Edward G. Blum; her son David Blum of Bergen; daughters Donna (Kenneth) Adriaansen of Marion and JoAnn (Eric) Preissner of Ann Arbor, Michigan; her grandchildren Peter, Katy and Holly Adriaansen, Maxwell and Katherine Preissner; her sisters Louise Fox, Judy (Peter) Meyer and Linda Schlaffer; her sister-in-law Anne Schlaffer; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother John Schlaffer. She was a member of Rochester Saenger Chor.
