NYS DEC Hunter Safety course scheduled in Parma
Mandatory course for first-time hunters available to local residents
Instructors certified by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation will conduct a Hunter Safety Program on September 2, 3 and 6, at Northstar Sportsman's Club. Those interested in attending may register in-person at the Town of Parma Clerk's office, at 1300 Hilton-Parma Corners Road, Hilton from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday-Friday.
The free course is required for first-time hunters who wish to obtain a hunting license. Safe firearms handling combined with responsible, ethical hunter conduct and prudent hunting skills will be covered. Pre-course work is required and space is limited, therefore, it is recommended to register early.
Students must be residents of New York state and be 12 or older as of September 2. A parent or legal guardian must accompany and register students 16 years of age and younger. Registration is handled on a first-come, first-served basis.
