Annual August notice goes out to Monroe County voters
Last week, the Monroe County Board of Elections mailed the annual August notice to the over 412,000 registered voters in Monroe County.
According to Elections Commissioners Peter Quinn and Thomas Ferrarese, this mailing serves a two-fold purpose: to determine if the voter still resides at the address; to inform each voter of his/her polling place, political jurisdictions, and if the polling place is accessible to persons with disabilities.
The commissioners say the Board of Elections makes every effort to review all address changes and death notices, but occasionally, this information is incomplete. The Board of Elections will not inactivate or change any voter unless they can be clearly identified. Therefore, the board asks that if a letter is received and the addressee no longer resides at that address, the envelope should be returned to the Board of Elections marked "not at this address." If the voter is deceased, return the envelope marked "deceased." Records will then be corrected
Any voter who has any questions regarding the mailing, or a voter who believes they are registered but did not receive a notice, can call the Board of Elections at 585-428-4550.
