Genesee Center for Arts opens season
with dance troupe, "Galumpha"

The Genesee Center for the Arts begins its thirteenth season with "Galumpha," a three-man, acrobatic dance ensemble. Stunning acrobatics, striking visual effects, physical comedy and inventive choreography combine to bring imagination, muscle, and merriment to life. The performance is September 26 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, and $2 for Genesee students with a current ID. Individuals may reserve tickets prior to the event, but they must be paid for at least 24 hours in advance or will be sold the evening of the performance.

Galumpha members Andy Horowitz and Greg O'Brien first met in 1982 as undergraduates at Binghamton University (formerly SUNY Binghamton) where they, along with a third member, formed "The Sticks." Several dance companies followed, most notably 'Second Hand Dance," and, in 2002, Marlon Torres joined the ensemble and Galumpha was formed. Known for its fast-paced, athletic brand of movement, Galumpha has appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman, 2002 MDA Jerry Lewis Telethon and MTV.
