Churchville-Chili BOE approves new tax rate
At its August 12 meeting, the Churchville-Chili Board of Education approved a new tax rate of $24.34 per $1,000 of assessed property value for residents in Riga, Ogden, Chili and Sweden. This tax rate is less than the estimated 2003-04 tax rate in the proposed 2003-04 school budget.
This tax rate reflects an approximate 2.9 percent tax rate increase for the residents of Riga, Ogden, Chili and Sweden. The proposed tax rate projected in the 2003-2004 school budget indicated residents would pay a 3.34 percent tax increase. With this new tax rate, a resident with a home that has a true value of $100,000 in Riga, Ogden, Chili or Sweden would pay $2,434 in school taxes. This is a $70 increase from 2003-2004 school taxes, according to district officials.
The actual tax rate is less than the projected rate due to the district's true value real property tax assessment. The tax assessment in April estimated the true value at $995,000,000. The actual true value assessment completed in July is $1,005,000,000.
