Electric car shuttle offered at Park Ridge
Park Ridge Hospital has received three electric motorcars donated by Global Electric Motorcars, LLC, a DaimlerChrysler Company. The donation is part of a national program providing the cars to non-profit agencies.
Park Ridge Hospital has received three of the electric motorcars, according to Robert Donahue, vice president of corporate services for Unity Health System. "We have one four-seater which will shuttle people to and from the parking lot into the hospital," Donahue said. "Another two-seater will be stationed at the Villages retirement community for any residents who may need to be shuttled to the hospital and the other two-seater will be used for environmental services, food and nutrition and facilities jobs." The four-seat vehicle is equipped with an enclosure and heaters, so it can provide cover from the elements throughout the year. "We will have a volunteer touring the Park Ridge Campus in the electric car looking for people to pick up and take into the hospital. We have never charged for parking and this is just another way we can focus on good customer service and patient care," Donahue said.
