Health Emergency Preparedness funds awarded
Assembly Republican Leader Charles H. Nesbitt (R,C-Albion) and Governor George Pataki announced $484,846 in federal grant funds to further enhance Orleans, Genesee, Monroe and Niagara counties readiness for bioterrorism and other health emergencies. The money is part of a $79.5 million federal grant issued to New York State by the United States Health and Human Services.
The funding is being awarded through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Health Resources and Service Administration (HRSA). The grants will support initiatives begun last year by the State Health Department, local health departments and healthcare providers.
The grant awards are as follows: Orleans County - $75,000; Genesee County - $85,000; Monroe County - $85,000; Niagara County - $219,846.
