Buddy Walk promotes awareness
and acceptance of Down Syndrome
The Flower City Down Syndrome Network (FCDSN) invites area residents to join in the Seventh Annual Buddy Walk to celebrate National Down Syndrome Awareness Month and promote the awareness and acceptance of all people with Down syndrome, a genetic condition that occurs in approximately one in every 800 to 1,000 births and causes developmental delays. The one-mile walk is scheduled for Sunday, September 28 at North Ponds Park in Webster. Registration is at noon with the walk beginning at 1 p.m. People with Down syndrome and their "buddies" - family, friends, neighbors, classmates, co-workers and teachers, are welcome to participate. This year's Grand Marshalls are Scott Spezano and Sandy Waters from 98PXY. The event is not a fundraiser. Admission and all activities are free of charge. The local Buddy Walk is being coordinated with National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS).
