TOUGHLOVE® group meets in Greece
The Greece TOUGHLOVE® Parent Support Group will sponsor a Drug Awareness information session on Thursday evening, October 2, at 7:15 p.m. at Westside Baptist Church, 3955 Mt. Read Blvd. (corner of Vintage Lane). Monroe County Sheriff Dan Lyon will address drug use including alcohol, marijuana, club drugs and inhalants. This information night is open to parents (adult) only.
The TOUGHLOVE® Program is a parent support group for families that are being torn apart by unacceptable adolescent behavior. Meetings deal with behavior, not emotions, and participants advocate allowing the adolescent to experience real consequences for unacceptable behavior. No professional counselors are involved; the support groups consist entirely of parents giving peer support. Group leaders are typically other parents who have successfully benefited from the TOUGHLOVE® philosophy. The group offers a "process for change" to help parents make changes - first for themselves and their own well-being - then for the adolescent.
For additional information, leave name and number at 234-1836 and a TOUGHLOVE® representative will return the call. Meetings are open without advance registration. A weekly $5 donation is requested to cover administrative costs. This fee will be waived if necessary.
