Saints defense pitches fifth consecutive shutout
Goalkeeper Katie Voorheis and the Churchville-Chili defense is making it look easy this season as they had yet to allow a goal through their first five games this season. Brianna Diaz, Emilie Rowe, Renee Strobel and Elizabeth Zorn are the last line of defense in front of Voorheis and they're not making any mistakes either as they limited Gates Chili to just a handful of shots in a 3-1 win in high school girl's soccer.
In the 23rd minute, the Saints Laura Bojko launched one of her patented left-footed corner kicks into the box where Jaime Eisenhauer headed it in for a 1-0 lead. Just nine minutes later, the Saints made it 2-0 on another Bojko corner kick - this time with Kathryn Knowles getting the goal.
Midway through the second half, C-C put the lid on the game. Eisenhauer put a corner kick into the box where Melissa Rider inadvertently hit the ball right to teammate Nicole Emiliano who fired it into the net for 3-0 lead.
The Saints, having advanced to the state quarterfinal last season with a 14-4-5 record, improved to 3-0-2 with the win with both ties scoreless affairs.
