Local volunteers working hard on the "Ultimate" household and antique sale

The dates and location are set and preparations are well underway for the ABC Household & Antique Sale to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Rochester. An army of volunteers has begun to sort and price the donated merchandise for the sale which starts October 16.

The ABC Sale (Attic, Basement, Closet) is a major annual fundraiser for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and has grown into a sale of tremendous proportions. Since it began in 1990, the sale has raised $314,000, all of which stays right here in Rochester. Co-chairs of this year's sale, Judie Griffin of Honeoye Falls and David Anderson of Greece, anticipate breaking the record of $76,000 which was set in 2000.

The sale will be held at the former J.C. Penney store at Irondequoit Mall. The space was donated by Madison Marquette Realty, who recently took over the mall. Donations of clean, saleable merchandise will be accepted at the Ridge Road entrance to the J.C. Penney store beginning on September 29 and ending on October 11. The store will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Fridays, from noon until 8 p.m. on Tuesdays through Thursdays and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. Donors will receive tickets to a 'thank you' pre-sale when they donate.

The sale runs from noon to 8 p.m. on October 16 and 17, with all merchandise discounted 20% on October 17. On Saturday, October 18, all remaining merchandise will be half off from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1 to 3 p.m. there will be a $3 bag sale.
