Film series at the Strand returns

The Sweden Democratic Film Series kicks off its fourth season with a screening of John Ford's classic western, "Stagecoach" (1939).The film will be shown at the Strand Theatre on Main Street in Brockport on Thursday, October 16 at 7 p.m. A post screening discussion of the film will take place at the Fire Hall on Market Street immediately following. Refreshments will be served.

This year's theme is "Doing the Right Thing: Ethics, Society and the Movies." The series is designed to explore how popular film treats some of the ethical issues that we face in our time in politics, business, media, and on a personal level.

In addition to "Stagecoach," films include "Patterns" (1956), November 13; "Roger and Me" (1989), December 11; and "Network" (1976), February 12. The final film of the series, to be screened on March 4, has not yet been selected.

Subscriptions for the series are available for a donation of $30 per person or $50 per couple. Approximately 40 people have subscribed to the series to date. Walk-ins are available for individual films for a donation of $6.
