New Riga Town Hall a work in progress
The Town of Riga will soon have its new town hall with much needed space added to the town court. Councilman Bob Ottley says the need for a larger court drove the nearly $2 million project forward. The new office on Buffalo Road will be less than a mile from the current Main Street location, but will provide better parking as well as more office space.
Some people who drive past the site remark how near the road the building seems. The building was placed so that it could meet town zoning laws for buildings near residential areas. The design also allows for parking to be provided to the side of the court instead of in front.
Christa Construction is overseeing the project, but local businesses, such T. Bell Construction Corporation of Churchville and Allied Builders of Brockport, have worked on the construction. A cold spring and a late snow-melt slowed work after the April groundbreaking, but barring any early blizzards, it will be finished for the planned November deadline and the early December move-in date.
