Groundbreaking at Hilton High School and Middle School set for October 16

Hilton Central School District's $57.9 million Capital Project is on time and under budget for Phase I at all three elementary schools, Superintendent of Schools John Cooper said last week. Approved by voters in December 2001, the extensive Capital Project is termed "generational" for its sweeping impact on all district schools, campuses, technology and energy management infrastructure.

Phase II and III contracts were awarded in September with groundbreaking at the High School, Middle School and Transportation Facility set for October 16, with festivities beginning at 9 a.m. at the High School, 400 East Avenue, Hilton; 9:45 a.m. at Merton Williams Middle School, 200 School Lane, Hilton; and 10:30 a.m. at the Transportation Facility, 150 School Lane, Hilton.

Among the highlights of the project are: a new Aquatic Center at the district's middle school; 64 new classrooms; a new gymnasium at the Village Elementary School; a doubling of the number of parking spaces; enhanced security and technology.

Completion of all phases of the project is expected in late 2004.
