Hilton Elementary gifted and talented program,
REACH, to hold series of public meetings
All interested parents are invited to a series of informational meetings this school year to provide a network for parents, teachers and students in Hilton's REACH program for gifted and talented students. REACH teachers Kathy Brickell of Northwood Elementary School; Mary Phillips of the Village Elementary School; and Greg Booth of Quest Elementary School encourage parents to attend. There will be four meetings during the 2003-2004 school years:
- October 29, 7 to 8 p.m. - "An Overview of the REACH Program" at Village Elementary School.
- January 15, 2004, 7 to 8 p.m. - "Parenting the Gifted Child" at Northwood Elementary School.
- March 30, 2004, 7 to 8 p.m. - "Issues in Educating the Gifted Child" at Quest Elementary School.
- May 19, 2004, 7 to 8 p.m. - End of Year Showcase - location TBA.
The agenda for the October 29 meeting will include: the history and background of the REACH program; what is REACH - needs based program, definition of terms, type of students identified, definition of terms, the philosophy of Hilton's gifted and talented programs, program design in each building, future meeting dates and agendas, resources available, and questions and answers.
