World explorer to speak at diabetes community forum
The American Diabetes Association and Excellus Blue Cross/Blue Shield are offering a free Diabetes Forum on Thursday, November 6, aimed at educating the community on how to manage diabetes and maintain an active lifestyle. The program, which is open to the public, will be held at the Radisson Inn on Jefferson Road in Henrietta from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The featured guest speaker, Will Cross, has lived with type 1 diabetes since he was nine years old and still managed to become a world explorer. Cross has been on expeditions to the North and South Poles as well as many other exotic locations around the globe. He will speak about his experiences managing diabetes and his adventures around the world.
In addition, Diabetes Community Forum participants will learn the latest news in diabetes management and nutrition. Local diabetes experts Donna Gruendike, MS, James Bingham, MD and Jennifer Walker, MS, RD, CDE will participate in a panel discussion. There will also be an opportunity for the audience to ask the experts questions about diabetes.
To register for the Diabetes Community Forum, call the ADA at 1(888) DIABETES ext. 3478. Space is limited and reservations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
