Breast cancer survivor speaks in Holley
Holley School District staff and community members had an opportunity to hear Holly Anderson, executive director of the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester (BCCR) and breast cancer survivor, speak about breast cancer risk factors, diagnosis, treatment, services provided by BCCR, and her own experience with having the disease. BCCR provides breast cancer patients and their families with advocacy services, education and support. The organization also raises funds for breast cancer research.
The presentation is the first in a series of community health and wellness programs that the Holley School District is sponsoring. "If children see their parents and adults around them living healthy, fit lifestyles, they may be encouraged to adopt the same healthy habits," said School Nurse Julie Kirby, program organizer.
The next presentation will be on eating disorders and will take place in January. Details will be announced when they become available. Any suggestions for future topics may be directed to Julie Kirby at 638-6318, ext. 2404.
