Murray town officials present preliminary budget

Officials in the Town of Murray presented their preliminary budget on Wednesday, November 5. The budget will be presented for approval at the regular board meeting the week of November 10.

The spending plan calls for a tax rate of $2.99 per $1,000 of assessed value for taxpayers inside the village limits and a tax rate of $4.55 for taxpayers outside of the village. Last year's tax rates were $2.92 and $4.39, respectively.

Lehning said the budget process was a good one. "Most of our increases were because of state mandated increases in the retirement fund and increases in fuel prices for the highway department."
