The professional modern and ballet dance company, Pointes of Faith Dancers, Inc. performs a dance concert at Cox Hall, Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester on Saturday, November 22. Rachael Williams Platt, who hold a degree in performing arts, dance performance, is the artistic director, principal dancer and choreographer. One of Rachael's newest choreographic works, "The Shulamite Woman: A Call to Love" is a mini ballet about a young peasant girl who becomes a queen. "This ballet is not only about a good old fashioned romance, but it is also about a young girl's spiritual walk with her true king, Jesus," Williams Platt said about her most recent work. The audience will also experience some contemporary themes to Rachael's choreography, such as "Sam's Song" and "Praise Goes On," both modern pieces. The dances all show how Christ's death and resurrection apply to our lives today, no matter who we are or what we have been through. Dick LaValley, the president of the board of directors, suggests, "It is interesting that historians believe the Shulamite woman was from Shunem which was the site of the Philistine enemy encampment before battle with ancient Israel. War helps to keep an enemy from doing us more harm, but, it is love which can capture the enemy's heart. Prov. 16:7 says, When a man's ways please the Lord, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with Him. This is our prayers." The performance begins at 7 p.m. and is entitled The Shulamite Woman: A Call to Love and Other Works. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students (from kindergarten through college) and senior citizens (60 and older). Seating is limited so reservations are recommended.
