Westside News celebrates new publication
Super Saver hits the streets

Westside News Inc. proudly announces the arrival of its new publication - the Super Saver. Readers of the Suburban News and Hamlin-Clarkson Herald will find it inside this week's edition. The new publication is in response to the many requests that our advertisers have made for some time to have something like the Super Saver available to them to promote their business.

The Super Saver is printed on a premium 50-pound, offset stock in a full-process color format at Buffalo Newspress - printers for other Westside News Inc. publications.

Earlier this year, Westside News Inc. received the coveted "Best in New York State for Excellence in Publishing" as well as other awards for our editorial and advertising production work. Over the years, Westside New Inc. has received numerous awards for our full-process color advertising. "The Super Saver takes advantage of that ability on the part of our production staff, led by Karen Fien, to produce award-winning advertising in full-process color," said Keith Ryan, Westside News Inc. president. "We are confident this new publication will be highly considered by the judges of the Free Community Papers of New York for an award in next year's competition," Ryan added.

"We struggled with the name of the publication leading up to its introduction," Ryan said. Super Saver was decided on to avoid any confusion with any other products existing in the local market. It will be delivered to all 32,000 homes and businesses that receive the Suburban News or Hamlin-Clarkson Herald. Westside News Inc. currently plans to have the Super Saver published at least four times during the year.

Leading the sales effort for this inaugural publication was 26-year employee Mary Lou Rockow with more than 70 percent of the advertising placed. "People were just so excited to hear about the new publication," Rockow said. "Even most of those not in this edition plan to be in our next edition, scheduled for February," she added.

Westside News is celebrating the 50th anniversary this year of the origin of the publication which became the Suburban News. "There's no better way to celebrate than with the start-up of a new addition in our product line," Ryan said. "Hopefully, it will be as successful as our last startup - the Hometown Business Directory, which premiered in the spring of 1997. It would be difficult to match the response to the directory, but based on the early response to the Super Saver, it could even surpass the directory," Ryan said.
